Hit Points, as always, in red, Nano Points in blue, on the Stats Window

Hit Points, invented by the US navy for their war games, are the most basic parameter of "game on" or "game over". In Player vs Player, where Aggro cannot be controlled, health management is the second most important consideration, next to damage dealing. In Player vs Enemy, in squads, where the players can choose which enemies to fight and aggro can be manipulated, HP can be rendered of near trivial importance. Accidents will happen, so the threat will resurface occasionally, but in AO, you never lose XP permanently. Only time. At the risk of oversimplifying the matter to make a point, Hit Points and Nano Pool can be seen as only pools. When an enemy's total damage is 200 HP, it matters not whether a character has 201 HP or 2001. Regaining HP and NP is of great importance in PvE. Both the pool and means of regaining HP and NP are dealt with in this guide.

Meds

Found in General Shops (in the first main room at the 'Medic Supplies' terminal) up to QL 125, RK meds perform a variety of functions in addition to healing HP and NP.

Some players in the Condemned Subway and other low level areas swear by wearing the Omni-Med Suit rather than armor, in order to use higher level Meds.

Rubi-Ka Meds

The following Meds cannot be used and are not available for sale in the Shadowlands

Auno shows up to QL 400 for most Meds but limitations on mission loot, Monster Parts, etc, make the max QL much nearer 300 or even 250.

Simple First-Aid Kit Simple First-Aid Kit Heals HP in combat or out. Available up to QL 125 in General Shops. Found in Missions as loot. Tradeskilled: Crafting First-Aid Kits.
Treatment Laboratory Treatment Laboratory Bought from Rubi-Ka shops. Used while sitting, heals a large amount of HP. Above QL 100, renamed HQ Health Laboratory. Like its Nano Recharger counterpart, can be tradeskilled, but when possible, buying them is more efficient.
HQ Health Laboratory HQ Health Laboratory QL 110 and 125 in shops. Otherwise, found as Mission loot, or made with Tradeskills, out of Blood Plasma (from Monster Parts) and Semi-Finished Treatment Laboratory.
First-rate Emergency Treatment Laboratory First-rate Emergency Treatment Laboratory A more expensive and more effective version of Treatment Laboratories. Cannot be bought; Tradeskill Process only. These used to blind the user, but the blind effect was removed in a patch.
Battle Prepared Treatment Kit Battle Prepared Treatment Kit As Basic and Advanced Treatment Laboratory, but can be used while being attacked.
Semi-Finished First-Aid Kit Semi-Finished First-Aid Kit From General Stores, Trade Section, Pharmacy and Chemistry Tools and Bases. These and Blood Plasma (from Monster Parts) can make a Simple First-Aid Kit.
Semi-Finished Treatment Laboratory Semi-Finished Treatment Laboratory Tradeskill: Treatment Laboratory. Pharmacy and Chemistry Tools and Bases terminal.
Startup Treatment Laboratory Startup Treatment Laboratory NODROP UNIQUE For free at the start of the game; the only way to get more nano points, albeit only 50, while Time and Space is locked from using Nano Rechargers and First Aid is locked from using Nano Kits.
Sophisticated Nano Kit Nano Kit Heals Nano Points anywhere in RK, in combat or out. Available up to QL 125 in shops. Found in Missions as loot. Tradeskilled: Crafting Nano Kits. QL 1-100 = Simple. QL 101 and up = Sophisticated.
Basic Nano Recharger Basic Nano Recharger Found in QLs between 10 and 100 in Rubi-Ka shops (less at the ICC Shuttleport and some RK areas), they offer the most healing of Nano Points, with requirements of Treatment and Time and Space. Like Treatment Laboratories, they can be tradeskilled, but if possible, buying them saves time and therefore money.
Advanced Nano Recharger Advanced Nano Recharger QL 110 and 125 in shops. Otherwise, found as loot. Nano Rechargers can also be crafted from Notum Pellets and Semi-Finished Nano Rechargers
Battle Prepared Nano Recharge Kit Battle Prepared Nano Recharge Kit As Basic and Advanced Rechargers, but can be used while being attacked.
Battle Station Enhanced Nano Recharger Battle Station Enhanced Nano Recharger Only usable on the Battle Station. Up to QL 400
Semi-Finished Nano Kit Semi-Finished Nano Kit Tradeskill ingredient, to make Nano Kit. Pharmacy and Chemistry Tools and Bases terminal.
Semi-Finished Nano Recharger Semi-Finished Nano Recharger Tradeskill ingredient, to make Nano Recharger. Pharmacy and Chemistry Tools and Bases terminal.

Stims

All of these are for sale on Rubi-Ka; all except Boosted Stim can be used in both Shadowlands and RK.

Boosted Stim Boosted Stim The only non-healing stim sold in RK that is not usable in the Shadowlands. The net effect of these is a bonus to HP Max and melee attack speed for 30 seconds. When that wears off, those stats decrease by half the bonus value, for another 30 seconds.
Burst of Speed Stim Burst of Speed Stim Gives a fair bit of run speed for a minute, and then reduces run speed between half and one third of that bonus, for four minutes.
Free Movement Free Movement This almost belongs on the Essential Items page. A must for anyone who does Missions or PvP, it removes calms, snares and roots. It reduces calms by around 1 second per QL, roots by between a third and a half a second per QL, and snares by 2.5 seconds per QL. It can be used in combat.
Purge Nano Kit Purge Nano Kit Similar to the Free Movement stim, except it removes only snares, and only out of combat, but shortens the duration by around 3 to 4 seconds per QL.
Virus Scanner Virus Scanner Vital for PvP. Potentially useful in Missions, too. Removes a range of negative effects: Blind, Trader skills debuffs (Divest and Plunder), Trader AC leech, Doctor Speed debuffs and Meta-Physicist Nano Shutdown.
