Sources and Copyright

From Anarchy Online Wiki [AOWiki]
The printable version is no longer supported and may have rendering errors. Please update your browser bookmarks and please use the default browser print function instead.

Don't add tutorials/images from copyrighted sources if you don't have the written permission to do so. This page is an overview from which sources you may take content and from which not.

In general anything that comes from the main AO forums can be used, baring if it is a specific guide. Your personal screen shots can be used, as well as those of people who give permission for their use. Information that can be construed as general knowledge can also be used (such as tradeskill formulas or leveling locations), no matter where you find it. Guides or descriptions from other third party sites require permission to be used, so you cannot copy text blocks from places like AO arcanum or AO Universe unless they give permission.

Allowed

  • AO Wiki has permission to use Faunlore, with the exception of my descriptions, because they're not official FC stuff. I am unfortunately too busy to keep up with uploading the whole site, so if there is some way I can make it available to you guys for use, other than reposting it (since that may get the people who still visit the empty site thinking I'm returning), let me know. Also, my conversation with Twicer grants permission to use Arcanum. Both site authors (myself and Twicer) request that any usages have some reference to their original source. As he said to me, and I concur: "same policy as ever - just credit the correct authors." Thank you. Baryonyx 23:30, 19 Sep 2005 (CEST)
  • Andrea from http://www.andrea.net/ao/ allowed the usage of her grid/whompah maps. A copyright note and a link back to her back is necessary on every page the images are used on. The images must not be altered - if changes are needed we shall contact her --Angels 13:32, 14 Jul 2005 (CEST)
  • AginorGotD allowed us to copy A new Updated Fixer Guide that he wrote 8 may 2005.
    Landcast 14:14, 24 Jun 2005 (CEST)
  • Saerra allowed us to copy Comprehensive Guide to Grid Armor (GA) that she wrote 15 jun 2003.
    Landcast 08:18, 25 Jun 2005 (CEST)
  • Muha has given permission to use The Engineer Guide MkIII from the Engineer forums. She notes though that it is a work in progress. --Berael 14:18, 22 March 2007 (CET)

Denied

  • Don't take any contents from AOV (?). ZeoCrystal posted "Just a warning, I will be checking that site. If I see any guides ripped off of AOV, I will ask that they be removed, so just don't." HERE | Angels 17:31, 8 Jun 2005 (CEST)

Dead?

  • Anarchy Arcanum seems to be dead. Unable to get a reply to my requests by email. | Angels 17:31, 8 Jun 2005 (CEST)
    • Let me know what you need, and I'll speak with AA's PTB about it. I also intend on making the information previously available on Faunlore available for this site, with the probable exception of my descriptions and classifications, since they were never official Funcom material (with the exception of Mantises), just my own attempts at making a workable ecosystem out of what they gave us. -- Baryonyx 06:19, 13 Jun 2005 (CEST)
      • Anarchy Arcanum's normal URL died, the files and such got picked up by AODevs and they are now hosting it since we all have very fond memories of Twicer's work. The new URl is Arcanum.aodevs.com. --Berael 05:10, 20 February 2007 (CET)
  • Elm from http://ao.stratics.com allowed the usage of their tutorials and information on aowiki.net, if on every used contents a link to the original content will be made. Thanks alot Elm. | Angels 1:15, 9 Jun 2005 (CEST)
