The Collector
The Collector was a new instance introduced in patch 18.3 primarily targeting level 220 characters. The instance is unique in that it introduced no new rewards to the game, rather it provides a random selection of existing game loot from chests dropped by The Collector.
Location
The Collector instance is located in Pandemonium close to the portal. Two instance entrances are located to the east of the Pandemonium portal, the one to the right of these is the entrance to the instance. In order to enter the instance, you must be in a team. Although you may enter if you are in a raid, different teams will enter into different instances.
Mini-Bosses
Collected Essence
Collected Essence is invulnerable. Killing an Essence Fragment will cause Collected Essence to shrink and become vulnerable for a short period of time.
Sister Botanicus
Sister Botanicus is an oversized Exarch from the Temple of Three Winds. She summons Mature Abyss Orchids that imprison players, and Abyss Orchid Spouts that heal herself. Pets will not be affected by Mature Abyss Orchids and thus can be used to destroy them easily.
Immortal Guardian
The Immortal Guardian cannot be killed. Instead, players be kicked by the boss further into the playfield.
To do this, position each player between the Guardian and the lowest part of the broken wall to the East of its initial location. It will be necessary to drag the Guardian West after some attempts in order to have the Guardian's kick attack line up with the gap above the wall.
There will be two more Immortal Guardians and two more walls.
The Collector
After speaking to The Collector's Secretary, players will have a new ability named "Gravity Shift". This ability will replicate the kicking of Immortal Guardians.
Arena
The Collector's arena is a square room with two pillars. The edges of the room are lined with spikes and moats of liquid. There is also a moat of liquid around each pillar. These liquids are deadly and must be avoided.
The Western pillar is blue, the Eastern pillar is red.
Phases
As the Collector's health is depleted, there are points when it will summon additional Shade mobs. Early waves will contain only Frost and Flame shades, then Plague Shades will also spawn, and finally Death Shades. A fight without excess healing of The Collector will spawn five waves of Shades.
- Frost Shade (blue)
Frost Shades are invulnerable to conventional damage. They must be kicked onto the top of the orange Pillar to be destroyed. When spawned, the Collector can use his area-of-effect knockback ability.
- Flame Shade (orange)
Flame Shades are invulnerable to conventional damage. They must be kicked onto the top of the blue Pillar to be destroyed. When spawned, the Collector will be healed periodically.
- Plague Shade (green)
Plague Shades will severely decrease the initiatives of players they attack if the shade is in close proximity to The Collector.
- Death Shade (grey)
Death Shades will stun players they attack if the shade is in close proximity to The Collector.
Shades will spawn in a group directly between the two pillars.
Tactics
As the Collector has an area-of-effect knockback attack, it is recommended to snare or root The Collector when it is not actively being attacked. The ideal location to fight the Collector is any of the four corners of the room, such that being knocked back by the Collector does not cause a player to end up in the liquids or on spikes.
Delegating the responsibility to kick Flame and Frost shades onto the pillars to a one or two players will simplify the fight.
The various Shades can be mesmerised by any sufficiently powerful Mezz nano, but will need to be dealt with to a degree that recasting the Mezz nano on each shade does not become impossible.
