Hi Anarchangel I'm back playing AO. I notice AOwiki is often timing out. Today there have been moments of reliability. I often click stop in browser for a chance of getting a page up. Is it any better for you?

Not just a puff piece, an illustration of windows optimized for PvM efficiency. Of particular note is the Chat box placement, multiple quickbars, and of course the Mini Tool Bar

Optimized Windows

Left to right, top to bottom:

I. 3rd Quickbar. In Dark Age of Camelot, there was a /macro qbar3 /qbar 3 command one could use to put on one quickbar 'page', to switch to another. I have not been able to find such a command in AO, so multiple quickbars are preferable to switching between 'pages', because it is much faster.

II. Main Quickbar. 1, Attack. 2, Special Attack (In this case, /macro P-Atk /pet attack . 3, Second special attack, in this case, Fling Shot. 4, Follow: /macro Follow /follow . 5, Assist: /macro Assist /assist . 6, team nano (in this case, pulsing AC buff). 7,8,9,10: Nanos used most often (in this case, pet buffing nanos)

III. 2nd Quickbar. Other commonly used nanos.

IV. Mini Toolbar. The most useful thing on the whole page, for the space it takes up, despite the fact that its standard mode, a dropdown train of windows, is less efficient than a group of windows stacked on each other, their tabs selectable in one click. User Interface#First F10 > GUI > Control Center > Mini Toolbar . Here you can also choose 'Misc' and increase the number of Quickbars.

Attached to the Mini Toolbar are two windows. The others have been removed from the mini toolbar; clicking on them still hides them from the page, and re-enabling them restores them to that moved position. The two windows are: Wear, and Team. This is solely because they do not fit well, or at all, on the large square setup in the lower right corner. The tabbed window setup is by far more efficient in space and speed than the standard mini toolbar dropdown mode.

After I looked over this setup a second time, by writing this, I noticed I had been living with a misconception. It is annoying to not be able to see the lower part of the Wear window in the same way that the team is covered in the picture, when their positions are reversed, but it is not dangerous. Unclosed Wear windows have been the cause of many close calls and possibly deaths when I was unable to see who in my team of separate-account multiple-loggers was being damaged, let alone target them for heals. I am therefore dragging the Team tab above the Wear tab on all characters. However, I am only doing this because the major use for the Wear window is to equip and unequip Yalmahas, and so the fix for the lower part of the Wear window being obscured, closing the Team window, will not need to be used often. The Team window being closed is worse than the Wear window being in the way, because the Wear window toggle is more accessible than the Team toggle.

The Social Tab stores unused gear that would take up space in backpacks.

V. Chat window. Chat management is obscurely located in the Friends tab, where chat windows can be toggled on and off. Once they are revealed, they will be obscuring the other chat windows, so drag them on top and they will stack. The way to make the Chat window a normal window is covered in User Interface#Chat Box. I have OOC, which enables all channels for an overview, and channels not covered elsewhere, an Org window, which is ORG ONLY; I tried allowing other channels, but there is just too much spam. Team window, with combat messages and team chat, and customized windows which are usually closed, like Petition (tell messages only), etc.

VI. Compass. Ideally, the compass is just above open Inventory windows and below the character. The compass is currently in the lower right hand corner for screenshots. It is my trademark, and a tool that helps answer the question, "where was that picture taken?".

VII. In no strict order other than Inventory first, tabs from the Mini Tool Bar: Inventory, Programs, Info, PF Map, Planet Map, Missions Friends. It is fairly obvious I have many backpacks. Too many backpacks. Too many things that seemed like a good idea, or might one day be a good idea, etc. Inventory management is not my strong point. However, the 6x6 square fits nicely with the rest of the tabs, so that part is a good idea.

VIII. An open backpack, 3 down and 7 across, in the best place I have found, the center. Backpacks can also be stacked. Left click on the 'i' button, choose Auto Arrange (by Quality usually is best). Click on a corner and drag it into 3 x 7. Renaming it is usually a good idea; the rename text field can be copied, and pasted to, but you cannot delete, backspace, etc selected text more than one character at a time.

Hi, Thanks for the message I see you use your talk to communicate what you are working on which is a good idea. I am currently researching how best to twink my toons so I have been updating the skill articles with new information. JungleGeorge 02:36, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

The above is a proto-Guide and should probably be on a Sandbox page but was just too lazy to make one. And I want people to see it. But please leave messages here on Talk, and save me moving them, as I do believe in talk on Talk pages, and that User pages are User only. Anarchangel 20:50, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Merry Christmas 2010

You are welcome to name pages as best you see fit. I have been adding some redirects to improve searches such as DM for Daily Missions. I only wished Funcom would of named Old Athen with an s. Merry Christmas JungleGeorge 02:06, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

Skill Coloring Consistency

Hi @User:Anarchangel, may I discuss Skill Colors as per your recent edit http://wiki.aodb.us/index.php?title=Skills&oldid=45764 (21:37, 18 April 2022). With this edit there is now a discrepancy in the color meanings in the bottom-most table that you changed, with the big table just preceding it. I suspect you wanted to both color the bottom table fully, and also do it in a way as to make it easy to read - with regards to the last point I do admit that the black font on (dark) blue background for the 3.3+ cost is not too easy to read. To address the easiness of reading issue, color consistency between both tables and keeping the coloring of the bottom table completely, may I offer this edit as a compromise between the 3 points: http://wiki.aodb.us/index.php?title=Skills&oldid=46687 (10:47, 1 January 2023).
