Mutant
Certainly many Mutants, and perhaps all Mutants are the victims of Omni-Tek Corporation's experiments: escaped from laboratories or killing sheds or abandoned to the mercy of Rubi-Ka's wastes. They may be the descendants of such victims, or they may have suffered such mutation through exposure to some malign aspect of the RK environment, or a combination of these factors. Breed Mutants and others seem to mercifully be a step further in the process that created the Atrox, Opifex and Nanomage. Solitus are the "breed" that first was brought to RK to be genetically manipulated by OT into their ideal of servile and efficient workers. By contrast, Horribly Failed Experiments are clearly the result of a less "successful" stage, perhaps given an unnaturally long lifespan, an existence approaching undeath.
Omni-Tek may or may not have given up on such research, but such monstrosities were created anew in Biomare, an Omni facility. Who knows how much of the research there was allowed or even ordered by OT before the Director finally went too far.
