Projects

From Anarchy Online Wiki [AOWiki]

Working on a Wiki can be fun and rewarding, especially if its a community project with the aim to return the work directly to the community. Sometimes though, the project of cataloging and recording all aspects of the game can seem pretty daunting! This page is a list of the most important projects that need to be done on the Wiki to make it as complete as possible. The projects are listed in order of importance with notes on what is needed.

Quick Writing Information[edit]

  • AO Wiki is like an encyclopedia for Anarchy Online, or a reference to help players get good solid information, so all writing on the wiki should be consistent with the style of a reference. That means that works should be basically factual and objective about the topics they are addressing.
  • It is also important to note that the wiki is written for the lowest common denominator, so assume the people reading have no knowledge of what you are talking about even if you believe they should know about something.
  • Writing should be done in clear and concise, proper English. Like the game itself, the official language of this wiki project is English and writing the best you can will help you be understood. (There is also a sister german language wiki project located at [1])

Instance Writeups[edit]

End game content relies more on large raids or teamed situations, but many of the lower level content areas are found in instances. Having a complete and in depth guide to all the instances and static areas in the game goes a long way to helping new and old players find their way around the game.

What you can do is look at the Instance category page and see if there are any Instances missing and look at the guides as they are presented. Each guide should have, at the very least, a sections covering the bosses of the Instance, the general loot found there, strategies for traversing and adventuring in the Instance, and a map. If you want to get more fancy, each major section can be laid out in a full walkthrough format.

Mission Walkthroughs[edit]

Missions are a way of life, but it can be extremely hard without detailed, up to date, knowledge of how they work. Since the beginning of the game, some missions have appeared, some have changed, and new ones have superseded old ones. The player base needs to know these things.

If you would like to make a contribution to AOwiki's mission walkthroughs you can look at the and see what has already been written. Mission write ups should have all the information required clearly laid out in a step by step format. This includes important locations with coordinates, important NPCs, Important Items, processes or dialogue options that are needed to complete them, and maps of important locations.

Raid Guides[edit]

The favorite past time of high level players! Large raids are the bread and butter of what it means to be at the 'endgame'. While many people get the hang of raiding fairly quickly, not everybody coming up through the ranks will know what to do on any given raid, so the more knowledge we can give new raiders the better they will perform in the first couple times.

Helping out with raid knowledge requires write ups of the factual nuts and bolts of how the raid works, how many people you really need, quirks of the raid, the rewards, and location information. The page will give you an overview of what we have.

Tradeskill Guides[edit]

Some of the most important items in the game are not found but made through tradeskill processes, it is also known that the player base has not even discovered all of the tradeskills to be found in AO! Documenting tradeskill processes, or the lack of information about a process goes a long way to helping the player base see the wide range of items to make and what is needed to make the most important items.

There is a large tradeskill section on the main page that you can look to see what we have in the wiki, also looking at the category page can give you an idea of what we have and what we are missing. Each tradeskill is written up in a particular format but at its base what needs to be reported is the components and tools needed to do the tradeskill, the skills and skill levels needed, and the order of the processes.
