Prowler Armor

Jump to: navigation, search

Prowler Armor is a powerful Levelling Item with bonuses to Initiative speeds and Evades. Prowler is made from Crawler Armor, which cannot be made without the expensive / rare Mass Relocating Robot (Shape Soft Armor). Prospective Prowler wearers then must invest either in the MRR or Crawler Armor pieces.

For a set to include shoulderpads is pretty rare; there are 9 pieces to the set, in all. Damaged Proliferation units drop from Alpha Skincrawlers; like the normal Skincrawlers and their Hide pieces, Alphas are found in the Crypt of Home. For more on the Crawler Armor and the Crypt of Home, where the pieces for that armor drop, see those articles.

The required Abilities for this armor are Agility and Sense.

Important Note: The final step of the tradeskill process makes the armor NODROP.
The final step requires only a small amount of Mechanical Engineering, 75, but it must be performed by the prospective owner of the completed armor.

Tradeskill Process[edit]

The combination of items in Anarchy Online works as follows:

Open the tradeskill window (Ctrl-t). Here you can place the Source (often a tool) in the left box, and the Target in the middle box. two items you want to combine. The resulting product item, or Result, if there is one, will be displayed in the right box. The number of possible combinations that can be made with any item as Source or Target, even if that number is zero, will be shown below the box. A detailed look on the Result item is possible with a simple shift-left-click on it. This examination can be performed upon items in storage packs. Until a combination is performed, the items remain in their storage packs, and do not move to main inventory if the Tradeskill window is closed. If there is no free inventory space before combining items, the item will end in the overflow window, even if items are consumed in the process, leaving an inventory space.

Provided no information on any of the ingredients is desired, the optimum way to combine items is: Bring both items to main inventory. Pick up the Source and hold the item graphic on the cursor over the Target. While holding down Shift, right click. The Result product and tool, if any, will return to inventory. A small number of recipes, e.g. Treatment Libraries, will consume items which are usually used as tools, e.g. Hacker Tools, and not consumed in other recipes.

Repairing the Proliferation Units[edit]

One Proliferation Unit is required for each piece, for a total of nine for the full set. Damaged Proliferation units drop from Alpha Skincrawlers in the Crypt of Home

Pro 'n' Con[edit]

+ Prowler Armor has powerful evades, which can negate damage completely, some of the time. ACs are not a factor until a character is hit
+ Prowler Armor has powerful Init bonuses, which speed up attacks, either doing more damage or allowing a character to decrease Agg/Def (slider bottom right of screen) and become more defensive
+ The same tradeskiller that has the MMR to craft the Crawler armor can fix the Proliferation Units
+ Fills in defense gaps in Carbonum
+ Given the right setup, Crawler armor components are easy to get

- Not available before QL 75
- NODROP. Cannot be bought, sold or traded
- Crawler requires a rare / expensive tool (MMR (Soft))
- Weaker overall in ACs than Carbonum
- Defense gaps vs Cold and Fire
- The parts required to upgrade it are much harder to get than the original Crawler pieces

= Conclusion / Suggestion / Tips:
= While it lasts, it fills in gaps in Carbonum.
= Insurance to guarantee a Froob and/or starting character's armor requirements, whether they cannot afford Carbonum or are too busy or unlucky to get good armor drops.
