Observations About Sitting vs. Standing[edit]

I tried some simple observations to verify with a low-level character. The tick-rate measurement seems muddied a bit by lag or client slowness, so I measured sitting and standing tickrates for several ticks each. The standing tickrates seem to agree with the charts above.

It seems, at least at low levels, that the health tickrate doubles when you sit, while the sitting nano tickrate doesn't change. The amount regained per tick doubles while sitting for both health and nano.

So, while sitting, you regain health FOUR times faster than standing, because both the rate and amount are doubled. But for nano, you only regenerate twice as fast sitting (the amount doubles but the rate does not.)

Note, I haven't checked all classes and levels, just a level 15 engineer.-- Shyland 06:35, 2 January 2007 (CET)

update: More than double when sitting...

I don't remember what the heal- and nano-delta were for the 15 engineer, but I do remember they doubled when sitting. However I'm currently running a level 50 Martial Artist. He has no "delta" items yet and his Body Dev is 266. As expected, health and nano regained per tick are 5 each when standing...BUT...they both become 13 when sitting! Evidently you get more per tick sitting as you level, for what it's worth. (Of course if you're sitting, usually you can just use rechargers/labs...) -- Shyland 12:36, 14 January 2007 (CET)

Tickrate Caveat[edit]

In case new players come to this page and start thinking Psychic is going to solve all their nano problems, the following caveat:

Tickrate is superior to the low value of regain, but it is also dependent on it. It is true that Psychic makes tickrate fourteen times better, but it starts at nearly a half minute between ticks. This needs some real world grounding; nanos are incredibly expensive at the highest levels. In comparison to the costs of nano programs, Delta tickrates and values start low and remain low.

A Nanomage with Body Dev 1000 (to my knowledge, that is extremely high, to illustrate a point), with 810 Psychic (the maximum that is useful) and 65 points in implants (a number that was quoted on the forums), gets 4 + 10 + 65 = 79 every 2 seconds. Note that the amount Body Dev gives, 10, is dwarfed by the amount implants give, 65.

Nanocost for Izgimmer's Triple? 1,883. At the above rate, the nano is regained in 48 seconds. Superior Insurance Claim? 2,970. It takes a minute and 14 seconds to get that back. Sure, you could invest in Psychic and Body Dev and First Aid, but the latter should be far and away the priority. I do not have the figures for nano cost reduction in implants to hand, but the maximum even for Atrox, 45%, saves 847 nanopoints from the Triple and 1,336 np from the Claim.

Deltas will never be a replacement for First Aid. Can they even be a replacement for regen? Even Nano Cost Reduction, which is more effective than deltas, is not a replacement for First Aid.

Nano Points Per Second[edit]

The values below are usable by any Breed given a suitable transposition. Although the listed amount is what an Atrox would get, to see the result desired, for a Solitus, move one square to the right. Results for Nanomage, move two squares to the right. Note that a second in the game may or may not correspond to a Real Life second.

So even at incredibly high levels of Body Dev and Psychic, we can see that a character only gets 7 nanopoints per second. I started making the chart, and then realized perhaps the more important thing to do was to warn people that it is not worth pursuing
