Notum Cannons

There are two ways to escape the gravitational pull of a planet. Spacecraft use a slow steady burn of ejected gases to propel themselves upwards. But the first theories of how to get into space in the nineteenth century on Earth were that the explosive gas discharge of cannons could do the job, and the idea remains sound, provided your proposed payload can withstand the immense G forces.

The Notum Cannons in Clondyke utilize the principle of an explosive force to propel loads of Notum from the numerous Omni-Tek mines still in operation, out into orbit, to be collected by waiting space freighters.

The architectural style of Rome has been brought to bear on these immense machines, for they feature stylized human gunners carved in a relief on each side.
