Perks can be considered as permanent buffs. They give a boost to skills and some give new perk abilities such as Chaotic Modulation. Perks can be divided in to 3 Categories: Profession Perks, for your profession only; Group Perks - Shared by a group of professions; General Perks - Accessible to everyone.
Each perk has several levels, sometimes ranging from 1 to 10. Getting the 2nd part of a certain perk requires you have the 1st part beforehand.
Each perk costs 1 Perk Point to upgrade. You get 1 Perk Point every 10th level all the way up to Level 200. After level 200 you gain 1 Perk Point for every level.

Perks are only available to owners of Shadowlands or Alien Invasion. Owners of Alien Invasion and Shadowlands get both Shadowland Perks and Alien Invasion Perks.
