All Engineers have problems with keeping the monsters focused on attacking their robot and not them, this tradeskill was introduced very early on as a sort of rememdy to that situation. The trimmer increases the aggressiveness of a robotic pet beyond what the Trimmer - Positive Agg-Deff gives so it is more likely that an enemy will focus its attention on the robot. While certain elements have been added to the game to render this item as some times less than adequte, it is still an essential part of the Engineer tool kit.
