The New Engine

It was officially announced in June 2007 by, than, Game Director Silirrion, that the rendering engine for Anarchy Online would be upgraded. This work has been continued under the direction of the new Game Director Means. It was originally anticipated that the engine would make its appearance in the Patch 18.0 booster and upgrade, but it became increasingly clear this would not happen. While this upgrade will not change all the art assets found in AO to date, changes will be required of the animation and particle effects to bring them up to more current standards for graphics engines. It was also suggested by means that other things would be upgraded like character models.

Engine Platform[edit]

The new engine is currently being implemented with Ogre 1.6, a switch that required some extra work

Late November the engine was being implemented with Ogre 1.4
