NPC - short for Non Player Character
This term is used for all avatars in the game that are not considered mobs and that are not played by real persons (PCs, or Player Characters). NPCs are often characters important to the Anarchy Online's history or storyline, or at the very least, specific 'quest' missions related to the storyline.
Long Term Characters are a type of NPC not operated by game code, but by the ARK player advisors.
