The Advanced Salesman's Hat is a Trader-only upgrade to the Salesman's Hat. It is added content, introduced in a patch along with Zoftig Blimp in Hope, who sells many useful items, including the basic hat. Once upgraded, it becomes a Levelling Item; right clicking on it will increase its QL if the requirements to Use it are met. It is level-locked at its own QL, but cannot be leveled accidentally higher than it can be worn, as with Living Cyber Armor and some other leveling items.
The main ingredient, then, being easy to secure, the difficulty lies in obtaining the Salesman's Chip to upgrade it with. It drops only from Mobs of the Trader profession, and only in missions. A fairly common drop as individual items go, it can still take scores of missions on average to find it, and the chance decreases as the mission levels rise above 75. Buying it on the Global Market Search is probably a better option, with Traders being only one profession among fourteen doing missions. Online tools such as Kimi's Market Watch can facilitate this process.

Tradeskill Process[edit]
The combination of items in Anarchy Online works as follows:
Open the tradeskill window (Shift + T). Here you can place the two items you want to combine in the left and middle part. The resulting Item will be shown in the right area. Missing skills, or non possible combinations will be shown below. A detailed look on the resulting item is possible with a simple shift-left-click on it. It is recommended to have free inventory space before combining items, else the item will end in the overflow window.
