Installing Memory chips into a NCU Belt is the general way to increase your NCU memory space which allows you to run more Nano Programs. You can equipped up to six NCU chips, depending on how many deck slots the NCU belt allows. This article covers the Memory Chips and other NCU items that can be equipped to a NCU Belt.
Memory chips are available from stores (Tools shop terminals) and as missions rewards.
Standard Chips[edit]
These chips are commonly found or bought in stores, and NCU chips can also be rolled in Missions which can offer a decent saving especially for high-QL chips.
Standard NCU Chip[edit]
Standard NCU chips simply increase the amount of total NCU space you have available, and do not provide any other benefits. Note that the name does not always correctly show the benefit provided (e.g. 32 - 63 NCU Memory will in fact provide 24 - 48 NCU), and the benefits may overlap (e.g. the highest 4-7 NCU and the lowest 8-15 NCU both provide 6 NCU).

Deck Slots: 3
Upgrades to Infused Computer Deck Range Increaser
NCU Coolant Sink[edit]
Coolant Sinks help you by reducing your chance of fumbling a nano program either due to lack of overall ability or because of being dealt damage.
QL Range: 10 - 200
Deck Slots: 4
Upgrades to Infused NCU Coolant Sink
Hardcore CPU Upgrade[edit]
CPU upgrades add a varrying amount of % Nano Cost decrease that lowers the nano pool cost of casting nano programs.
QL Range: 40 - 200
Deck Slots: 5
Upgrades to Infused Hardcore CPU Upgrade
Nano Formula Recompiler[edit]
This item directly adds to your Nano Program Initiative, which makes executing programs faster.
QL Range: 20 - 200
Deck Slots: 6
Special Chips[edit]
These chips are exceptional in some way.
Classic Game[edit]
Accelerated NCU Memory[edit]
This chip can be tradeskilled from common NCU memories and recompilers, and adds some Nano init but also requires Intelligence to equip.
QL Range: 1 - 200
Deck Slots: 1 - 6
Expansion: Classic
Morphing Memory[edit]
This chip is a common drop in the Subway dungeons frequented by new players, and can be traded. It is a Leveling item that is dependent on Psychic and Computer Literacy. The Memory adds some Nano Resist as well as NCU space.
QL Range: 1 - 200
Deck Slots: 1
Expansion: Classic
Upgrades to Infused Morphing Memory
Dark Dreams[edit]
This mysterious memory chip is much sought after by many explorers in Steps of Madness for its low Computer Literacy requirement to use. It adds NCU Memory 20, Max Health 100, and Root resistance 1%. They drop from Neleb the Deranged.
QL Range: Special
Deck Slots: 1 - 6
Expansion: Classic
Dark Memories[edit]
This mysterious memory chip is much sought after by many explorers in Temple of Three Winds for its low Computer Literacy requirement to use. It adds NCU Memory 26, Max Nano Pool 40, and Root resistance 1%. They randomly drop from Lien the Memorystalker.
QL Range: Special
Deck Slots: 1 - 6
Expansion: Classic
Memory Loop[edit]
Memory Loops are a rare drop from Lien the Memorystalker in Temple of Three Winds and like Dark Memories they have lower Computer Literacy requirements to use compared to regular NCU chips with the same benefit (+33 NCU), but they have no additional benefits.
QL Range: Special
Deck Slots: 1 - 6
Expansion: Classic
Enhanced NCU Chip with Recompiling Core[edit]
These memories drop in the Biomare dungeon and come in a the 50-90 QL range, starting at 16 NCU and reaching 24 by QL 88. They are a valuable addition to the setup of many casters for their ability to lower nano costs. They are far more valuable than the "Dark" twins for more advanced twinkers, as they have NO level requirement and are not NODROP, so a higher level can just go harvest them.
QL Range: 50 - 90
Deck Slots: 1 - 6
Expansion: Classic
Bundle of Twisting Nerves[edit]
Bundle of Twisting Nerves, for Fixers only, drops from Blorrgs in Crypt of Home. With only 20 NCU, Bundles are nonetheless irreplaceable for their buffs of +3 to Matter Metamorphosis, Biological Metamorphosis and First Aid, and to a lesser extent Pharmaceuticals.
QL Range: 100
Deck Slots: 2 - 6
Expansion: Classic
Mnemonic Fragment[edit]
Similar to a Dark Memory, Mnemonic Fragments drop from named mobs on the third floor of the Inner Sanctum dungeon. This is one of the best memories, in terms of NCU, that can be had from Rubi-Ka and it also adds a small amount of nano energy and 1% root resistance.
QL Range: Special
Deck Slots: 1 - 6
Expansion: Classic
Safeguarded NCU Memory Unit[edit]
This chip is very difficult to get as it drops from General Kronilis, of the Dust Brigade generals. For those who can manage the fight, the chip is locked to those 180 and above. It adds some AC, Intelligence, and Nano Energy.
QL Range: ~200
Deck Slots: 1 - 6
Expansion: Classic
Standard Juggernaut Nano Containment Module[edit]
Another hard fight, these chips drop from Omni-Pol Command Juggernauts and are locked for Clan use only. They add some energy weapons skills in addition to the memory space.
QL Range: 220
Deck Slots: 2, 3
Expansion: Classic
Shadowlands[edit]
The release of the Shadowlands expansion brought many new and exciting NCU chips to the game, though most of them are designed for the highest level of play.
Problem Avoiding Device[edit]
This memory is one of a set of three memories that drop from spirit bosses in the Elysium area of the Shadowlands. It is profession locked to Fixers, Martial Artists, and Shades, as well as title level locked to 3. For all of that the chip doesn't give a lot of NCU space, but adds some evade skills and initiative skill.
QL Range: 100
Deck Slots: 1-4, 6
Expansion: Shadowlands

It is profession locked to Fixers, Traders, and Engineers as well as title level locked to 3. For all of that the chip doesn't give a lot of NCU space, but adds some skill to a variety of mainstay tradeskills, including Breaking and Entering.
QL Range: 100
Deck Slots: 1-4, 6
Expansion: Shadowlands
Yuttos Modified NCU[edit]
Often considered the 'next step' in NCU memories by those who go to the Shadowlands, Yuttos NCUs are sold in random QLs at any Advanced/Superior ICC Accessories kiosk at any Fairtrade store in any Neutral City, e.g. in ICC HQ at /waypoint 3239 795 655
. The memories are very expensive compared to regular NCUs of the same QL and can range from ten million credits and higher. These memories give much more NCU space than a regular Rubi-Ka NCU of the same QL and add a small amount of treatment. The NCUs are title level locked though and require a lot more of Computer Literacy over regular RK NCUs of the same QL.
QL Range: 160-240
Deck Slots: 1-6
Expansion: Shadowlands
Upgrades to Spirit Infused Yuttos Modified NCU
Alien Invasion[edit]
The release of this expansion brought two new NCU chips to the game that are usable by all with the expansion, and with a wide range of QLs are helpful to anybody at any level of the game. The only limitation on their use is the requirement of levels of the Alien Technology perkline (which are level locked) and a slightly higher then average Computer Literacy requirement.
Viral Memory Storage Unit[edit]
The next great leap forward in NCU memory for many players. The while these memories do not add any special abilities or statistics they do add a higher then normal amount of NCU for their level, as well as a very high level range. At max level, Viral Memories add as much NCU space as some of the fabled Pandemonium memories but are much more available.
QL Range: 1-300
Deck Slots: 3,4
Expansion: Alien Invasion
Viral Compiler[edit]
The introduction of this chip was a great help for many players looking for a better compiler to speed up casting. Like Viral Memories, Viral Compilers have a greater then normal ratio for nano initiative to ql than their Rubi-Ka counter parts. On top of adding initiative, viral compilers also add a small amount of Nano Resistance.
QL Range: 20-300
Deck Slots: 6
Expansion: Alien Invasion
Upgrades to Infused Viral Compiler
